| A few minutes with Dr. Anthony Mattaline. SullivanCountyMissouri.com would like to welcome Dr. Anthony Mattaline to our community. Dr. Mattaline will be working at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital with in patient/out patient, emergency, and osteopathic manipulative therapy, with a strong emphasis on physical medicine. Dr. Mattaline was born in Aberdeen, Maryland to an Army father. He attended Chaminade Preparatory School, and toured the US and Europe for two years after graduating from high school. In 1975 he enlisted in the Army and served in the 8th Army MEDDAC and he was Honorably Discharged in 1978. He continued his education attending classes at the University of Maryland, Far East Division in Korea. Dr. Mattaline tested out of two and one half years, by challenging courses, obtaining a BA degree in Administration, from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas. His interest in furthering his education led him to Northeast Missouri State University (Truman State University today), where he received a BA in Science and Biology. Dr. Mattaline attended Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine from 1981 to 1985. He served as a rotating intern in St. Louis, opening his private practice in 1985. He worked through Locum Tenens in St. Louis from 1986 – 2004 as well as LHI, a teamster’s organization for 12 years. Dr. Mattaline was Board Certified in 1992 by the American College of General Practitioners. Dr. Mattaline is married to Karen Sue and has 5 children ranging in age from 14 – 25. He and a brother own 100 acres outside of Novinger, and he currently resides in Milan where he plans to “stay until I die” as he put it. When asked what brought him to Milan, he stated he has always wanted to retire in the country. He likes the rolling hills and quiet peacefulness of this area. After spending a short time with Dr. Mattaline, (which I enjoyed immensely) I find him a fascinating gentleman, with a world of experience and the demeanor of a kind, sensitive, friendly man. He will be a great asset to the community, and deserves our support and appreciation. Welcome Dr. Mattaline, I look forward to seeing you again soon. Nothing personal, but I do hope, not professionally.
