Rosa Banner, a resident of Sullivan County for about 25 years who now lives in Kirksville is being installed May 26, 2004 as the "President Of The Missouri Rebekah Assembly."
Although Rosa has moved away, she has kept her membership in the Milan Rebekah Lodge #435, where she has been active since joining in 1987. She was employed at SCMH for 18 years, and is currently employed at Wal-Mart in Kirksville. Rosa is married to Joe, has 4 children, 4 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, all of whom she is very proud.
When asked her thoughts on the Rebekahs Rosa said "It is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. We strive to be better (ourselves and the organization), and the projects to help people - it is the highest honor to help people. We all love each other and enjoy what we are doing, we have lot's of fun." Rosa proudly admits that the Rebekahs locally, serve the community with donations to local food banks, serve breakfast at the "After Prom Breakfast," help people in need, help and support our local school. Their main fundraiser is the "Old Fashioned Supper" whick is held in October (watch for Announcements for it), and preparing meals for different groups, organizations and reunions. They also hold annually a raffle for a variety of items that are donated to their cause, and rent out their hall for events, reunions etc. They are very proud of their hall.
On a National level they raise funds for education, the Arthritis Foundation, Vision Foundation and work on the "Freedom Garden" between Canada and the United States.
Rosa is very honored to accept the new office, and is proud of being a member of the Milan Rebekahs. Congratulations Rosa, we are all very proud of what you do and your new office.
